Dram205 students are expected to complete a series of Connections Response assignments throughout the term. Each assignment is built on the same template asking students to connect a new concept from lecture to some other aspect in their prior learning. That aspect can be another concept from the course, an example from one of the screenings, a concept from a completely different course, or indeed, some other past knowledge or relevant experience that has nothing to do with a university course whatsoever. Students are assessed based on two criteria – the choice of connection, and the depth of the links being drawn between the aspects of the connection.
- You will be assigned a choice of concepts from lecture (check Moodle for the assigned concepts) and connect one of them to some other aspect of your own prior learning.
- Establish the connection by briefly describing each thing you are connecting.
- Then, justify your connection by exploring the specific links between your concepts.
- Finally, tell me about any new realizations or knowledge you have discovered in the process of comparing these two concepts.
Word Count: Maximum 500 words
(It’s okay if you are within 20-25 words of the limit. More than that, and I may take 10% off your mark)
Note: Since I am asking you to compare course concepts to your own prior learning, you may use “I” in this assignment when necessary. However, please remember that these are still formal writing assignments. I expect a concisely written discussion with appropriate grammar and correct spelling. You do not have to structure the assignment like an essay, nor do you need an introduction. Just tell me your ideas, but tell them to me in a manner appropriate to this course level.
AN ASSIGNMENT SHEET WITH MORE SPECIFIC DETAILS WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS VIA MOODLE.
